The amount of total area to be topsoiled is wetland slopes (1.49 acres) and dryland areas (3.93
acres) = 5.42 acres. Using a replacement thickness of 12 inches, this yields a total topsoil volume
needed of 8,744 CY. Table E-1 shows the breakdown of topsoil placement.
Table E-1
Area (acres) Topsoil Volume (CY)
Wetland Areas 1.50 2,420
Dryland Areas 3.93 6,340
Lake Surface 22.90 -
Undisturbed Areas 10.00 -
Tota I 38.33 8,760
The topsoil will be placed on finished slopes as they are made, eliminating the need for most
stockpiling. An excess of topsoil is present on the site, so no topsoil will need to be imported.
3. Haul Roads and Processing Area
Access to the pit will be from the existing internal haul roads of the Bunn Ranch Pit. See Map C-
2. All processing will take place on the Bunn Ranch site, which will be reclaimed as an industrial
site for gravel processing. A single internal haul road will be constructed along the south side of
the pit.
4. Reclamation Timetable
The time needed for reclamation is shown below. Exhibit L: Reclamation Costs describes the
worst case bond scenario.
Gehrman Pit October 09 E-2
