LPa(,e 2)
MINE ID -: OR PROSPE=.C1'1NG ID,-:: M-1931-"'6
INSPECTION DATE: 9'19x09 INSPECTOR'S INI DIALS: ECS
OBSERVATIONS
This was a routine monitoring inspection for the I-Aberg Pit. an active Yuma County 1 i?c sand and gravel
permit. conducted by Fric Scott of DRNIS. DRy1S followed Yuma County Road and Bridge representatives
I toward McOnnis, and Kent I'wiss to the site. and observed the site \yith them at approximately 1400.
Yuma County has approximately -ii acres currently permitted at this location. Mining is almost completed at
the site with only a small active area remaining at the north end ofthe site. Concurrent reclamation is \\ell
underway. The sloping is complete in previously disturbed areas of the site. and vcgetation is begimmIlL to
establish. The mining site identification sign was observed at the L•ckber- site entrance. and t-post permit
boundary markers were in place.
The only issue noted at this site is that as the vegetation begins to establish the slopes, are beginninu to erode in
some areas, and sonic slope repair will be required at this point before reseeding. This is most pronounced in
the southeastern area of the permit. Sunk terracing of the larger slopes may be also required to prevent soil
erosion until vegetation can fully establish. Sonic amendment oI the poor soils on site. such as 1ertilizcr and
additional organic material, would likely help \ e;Jetation to establish on disturbed areas and speed the
reclamation and final rclcaSc of"the site
s4
: V6
, :. .
Photo i - rcpresentatiyc photo of actiyc area located at north end of pcrnlit.
