(Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID #: M-1981-179
INSPECTION DATE: 9/29/09 INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: ECS
OBSERVATIONS
This was a routine monitoring inspection for the Meckelberg Pit #1, an active Yuma County 112c sand and
gravel permit, conducted by Eric Scott of DRMS. DRMS met Yuma County Road and Bridge representatives
Howard McGinnis, and Kent Twiss at the site, and observed the site with them at approximately 1045.
Yuma County has 113 acres currently permitted at this location. The mining site identification sign was
observed at the site entrance, and the extent of the site was defined by painted steel T-posts and existing fences.
Mining is progressing according to the approved mine plan, and topsoil and overburden piles are stable and
vegetated. The buffer zones between the road and creek beds have been well maintained. All activity is
currently on the south side of the intermittent stream channel. The disturbed area in the southeast corner of the
permit was mined out long ago, and has been well sloped and revegetated. This area of the permit would likely
be eligible for release if the county wanted to submit a request for an acreage reduction. No problems were
noted during the inspection.
I & E Contact Address
Howard McGinnis - Yuma County Road and Bridge
1310 South Blake Street
Wray, CO 80758
