7. The 5 h Level portal has 2 portal closures. Rehabilitation of this level will include
maintaining the tunnel width integrity originally constructed to accommodate modern
equipment. ( See portal photos.) The MSHA approved method of using steel jump sets
for realignment of the tunnel will maintain the tunnel width and only slightly modify the
tunnel's overhead height commitment, thus leaving enclosures in place in the event of
unseen construction challenges in determining the temporary removal or modification of
the DRMS interior enclosure. The enclosure will be immediately reinstalled and retro-
fitted to steel sets and fireproofed.
8. An encapsulation design and location information for DBMS review is provided
(attached). Dewatering flows will not be allowed to contact the existing 5 h Level dump.
9. See attached Impoundment Study. Patti Turacek and Associates inspected the survey
flagged impoundment areas with potential overflow, mine water discharge ditch and the
direction of the Impound Supply Line. There will be no dewatering of the mine until the
water quality of the mine pool is determined along with the water disposal plan including
impoundment development approval by your office.
It is understood that impoundments will be MSHA approved impoundments under the
guidance of MSHA PROCEDURE INSTRUCTION LETTER NO. 108-IV-1 dated
effective 08/26/08 regarding Procedures for Documenting Inspections of Impoundments
on Regular (EO 1) inspections occurring during construction through completion of
construction.
