For example, the <br />stream into which a mine effluent flows may be upgraded to <br />water fit for drinking water or for aquatic life. Suddenly, <br />the mine effluent is no longer suitable and a new cleanup <br />operation has to be devised. The only way to contend with <br />these developments is to keep abreast of the state and local <br />regulations. The best way to keep up to date is to stay in <br />contact with state and local water quality offices. They <br />should help to fairly apply the regulations to each opera- <br />tion. <br />• <br />0
