• Hard Rock/Metal Mining Permit Application
Limited Impact Designated Mining Operation (110(d))
Venture Resources, Inc. - Hukill Gulch Millsite
Exhibit B - Site Description
6.3.2(a)
Vegetation & Soil Characteristics of Affected Areas:
Tailings hnyoundment Area
This and site is a dry gulch composed of crystalline Precambrian rocks, i.e. gneisses and schists, and tertiary
intrusive rocks such as quartz monzonites overlain by 0-2" of poor topsoil. Bedrock is to be found rather quickly
beneath 0-36" of coarse, weathered rock. Vegetation is sparse on this south facing slope, consisting of native
grasses, current bushes, mountain maples and a meager disbursement of pinon pines and junipers. Natural grade in
this vicinity averages 3h : Iv and can be as steep as 2h : Iv.
It shall also be noted that within this area are numerous piles of pre-existing abandoned mine waste rock from
mining operations conducted by others in the late 1800's and early 1900's. There are approximately 8,000 tons of
this material contained within the affected area. These waste rock dumps are completely devoid of any vegetation
due to the acidic and metalliferous content. As part of new operations, these dumps will be processed to remove
contaminants and re-impounded into this area (refer to Exhibits C, D, E and T for more detail).
Mobile Mill Area
Again, this and site is composed of crystalline Precambrian rocks, i.e. gneisses and schists, and tertiary intrusive
rocks such as quartz monzonites overlain by 0-2" of poor topsoil. Bedrock is to be found rather quickly beneath 0-
36" of coarse, weathered rock. Vegetation is sparse on this south facing slope, consisting of native grasses, current
•
bushes, mountain maples and a meager disbursement of pinon pines and junipers. Natural grade in this vicinity
averages 5h : Iv.
6.3.2(b)
Permanent Man-Made Structures:
Historic Mining Roads, Public Right of Way
Within this vicinity there are numerous historic mining roads that traditionally have public right of way. Clear
Creek County designates these roads as a Secondary #4 roadway:
Secondary #4 Roads falling into this category have a wide variety of road surfaces and provide
ingress/egress for the traveling public. These roads include; roads which are declared public
highways pursuant to CRS 43-2-201 and R-98-181 by the BOCC, and plated dedicated roadways
in existing subdivisions which do not meet road design specifications. These roads are open and
public roadways but are not included in the Road Mileage Tax System of the state of Colorado.
Most of these roads are traversable by four wheel drive vehicles only. These roads receive no
snow removal, but may be periodically repaired by the Road and Bridge Department at the
direction of the Board of County Commissioners.
Refer to the maps in Exhibit A & E as well as a stability analysis in Exhibit L.
Private Electric Utility Distribution Lines
There is approximately 3/4 mile of 25kV overhead electric utility distribution within the Ownership
Boundary shown in Exhibits A and E. This line is PRIVATE, solely owned by Venture Resources Inc. and
is not necessarily used specifically for mining operations. Xcel Energy provides primary metering at the
point of connection on Two Brothers Rd. at the Virginia Canyon Rd. switchback.
0
