more suitable for repair work than what was previously available. This dozer, shown below,
is equipped with a 9-10 foot wide blade and has more than adequate power to complete
much of the work necessary.
y.
Maintenance work completed also includes restoring design conditions of the upper east
ditch (shown first below), the west terrace bench on Fill 7 (shown next), gully repair above
Pond 6 (shown next), and gully repair above the west downdrain to Fill 7 (shown last).
Downdrain repair at all of the three fills is outstanding at this time and will require the
excavator which is currently working at the New Elk Mine. This work should be completed
during optimum ground conditions this fall.
The operator should also provide a response to the Division's letter dated March 25, 2009
regarding specific requirements of the reclamation plan, including a schedule for completion,
or submittal, of the required information as necessary.
Ditches on the east side of the reclaimed area have been restored to design conditions with
the exception of the steep ditch above the road to pond 9. We discussed the potential to
revise the drainage in this area to effective split the drainage from some of the Pond 9
watershed. The operator will submit a revision proposing some changes to improve the
permanent drainage in this area.
