(Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID #: M-2009-070
INSPECTION DATE: 9/22/09 INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: ECS
BSERVATIONS
This was a pre-operational inspection for the Witherbee Pit, a proposed Yuma County 112c sand and gravel
operation, conducted by Eric Scott of DRMS. DRMS followed Yuma County Road and Bridge representatives
Howard McGinnis, and Kent Twiss to the site, and observed the site with them at approximately 1130.
The proposed site entrance is located on the west side of Yuma county road QQ near the intersection of QQ and
Yuma county road 56. Yuma County is permitting 80 acres at this location. The notification of proposed
mining site sign was observed at the existing site entrance location, and the extent of the site was defined by
existing fences.
The site is relatively level to rolling hilly ground and is currently rangeland. The only man-made features noted
within the proposed permit limits are a windmill and concrete cellar. Yuma County is proposing a 200' buffer
zone around the perimeter of the site as well as these existing features to maintain sufficient distance to prevent
possible impacts from mining activities. DRMS also suggested that it would be a good idea to clearly mark the
200' buffer zone inside the permit boundary when work commences so that the affected areas do not encroach
into this buffer area.
The entire site is currently rangeland. Grazing may to continue on areas of the site that are not being actively
mined. No other features or man-made structures of note were observed in the permit area during this
inspection.
I & E Contact Address
Howard McGinnis - Yuma County Road and Bridge
1310 South Blake Street
Wray, CO 80758
