• INTRODUCTION
The proposed Korinek #1 Pit is located approximately 2.5 miles north-northwest of Manzanola
in Crowley County, Colorado. The site is bordered on the south by the Arkansas River; on the
east by County Lane 15; on the north by agricultural land; and on the west by residential and
agricultural land. The site is currently used as dryland pasture. Topography of the site is
predominately flat on the north half, with gentle slopes toward the Arkansas River on the south
half.
The Korinek #I Pit consists of the existing Korinek #I Pit under a 110 Permit, a pre-law gravel
pit on the east side of County Lane 15, partially reclaimed area of the existing pit on the William
Gray property to the west of Fred Korinek's property, and reclaimed area south of the existing
mining area. The 110 Permit area includes 5 acres in the current pit, and 3.5 acres to the
southeast of the current pit. An addition of 36.7 acres is part of this permit. This 112 Permit
application combines all of these areas for a total of 45.2 acres.
0 The permittee for this site is Korinek Sand and Gravel, Inc.
The land owner is Fred Korinek.

Korinek #1 Pit August 2009 i-1
