Sherman <br />Executive Director <br />Ronald W. Cattany <br />Division Director <br />Natural Resource Trustee <br />Bear Coal Company, Inc. has applied for a bond release at the Bear Mine. The bond release application was <br />found complete by this Division on September 21, 2009. In Surety Release No. 4 (SL-4), Bear Coal Company <br />is applying for a partial Phase I Bond Release at the Bear No. 3 Mine. The partial Phase I Bond Release request <br />is for structural demolition and removal, as well as for backfilling and grading of 7.5 acres of disturbed land. <br />The west side portal area reclamation is not being considered for bond release at this time. The sediment control <br />system will remain in place to treat disturbed area runoff. The current reclamation liability is $279,224.00, <br />which is the amount of bond that the Division holds for reclamation. The Bear Coal Company is seeking a <br />release of $167,000.00. <br />The Division will be conducting the bond release inspection of the Bear No. 3 Mine on Tuesday, November 3, <br />2009 at 9:00 am. The purpose of the inspection will be to evaluate the reclamation at the site. Rule 3.03.2(2) of <br />the Rules and Regulations of the Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Board for Coal Mining requires that you <br />be notified prior to the inspection, so that you may attend the inspection. If you wish to attend the inspection, <br />please contact me for specific details.
