June 18, 2009 Inspection Report Item 6 - Weed Control Plan
Dear Mr. Elder:
The Division has reviewed the Operator's response to Item 6 of the June 18, 2009 inspection report for
the Leadville Mill and Hopemore Shaft, File No. M-1990-057, and submits the following comments.
The Noxious Weed Management Plan submitted by Leadlocks, LLC does not meet the Division's
requirements for a Noxious Weed Control Plan. Please submit a Noxious Weed Management Plan with
the following requirements:
1.) List of potential noxious weed species (target species)
The submitted Noxious Weed Management Plan indicates Yellow toadflax as the only target
species; however Larry Walker's email indicates Canada Thistle, Oxeye daisies and Yellow
toadflax were found within the permit boundary.
2.) Control methods and treatment window for each species
Please provide the Division with control methods and treatment windows for each potential
noxious weed species.
3.) Monitoring plan and Follow-up
Please indicate when the "local weed control expert" will inspect the property during the
year and how follow-up treatments will be implemented following the inspection.
A copy of the Division's Weed Control Plan guidance policy is attached for reference.
