Day Mathews
eptem?er ? 8, 209
Page ?
4. The ]?wR's comrnen# stated above ?n ?ten? 3 are consistent with our preliminary adequacy
review comment regarding incorporation afdesign changes to ensure that these structures da
not impound water, The current design see ?Frant and Profile ?Tiews} show a "dead space"
af2.5 feet from the upper inch pipe to the bottom ofthe spillway channel. Likewise there
is ??5 feet afembnkrnent from the lower G inch pipe to the upper ? inch pipe that would also
retain v?ater, particularly if the bottom pipe becomes clogged ar if the structure becan?es
silted in. A slotted riser pipe incorpora#ed ia?to the design nay allow water to flow thraula
and not be irnpounded. Please revise the designs far Seneca XX- and Yaast runoff control
structures and incorporate a slatted riser pipe from the lager discharge pipe up to the earthen
s illway or a law^level outlet as directed by the DwR. The revised design must ensure that
p
the structures drain all storage within 4 hours or s otherwise directed by ?wR.
Sandy Brawn
Marcia Talvitie
