0' .
uses including human consumption. DRMS should use CDPH&E's analysis as
a basis for formulating a parameter list for monitoring. The hydrologic
monitoring plan has been amended to include the parameters specified by the
CDPH&E not previously monitored (As, Be, Cd, Cr3+, and Zn).
Hardness was removed from the parameter list. The hardness at the point of
groundwater sampling would have little bearing on the hardness if this water
eventually emerged at the surface.
6. Pages IV-4 and IV-12 were modified as requested. In addition, section IV.B.4
was modified on page IV-4 to allow long term storage of explosives on site.
Comments noted. Revised seed mixes are attached (Tables V-10 and V-11,
pages V-40 through V-45). The revisions increase the use of native species,
primarily for the Interim & Drill Sites mix. Current reclamation of smaller sites
is providing good insight into appropriate practices and seed mixes for larger
sites in the future. Therefore, we want to expand the mixes to provide better
information for future larger scale reclamation efforts. We still would like to
meet with the various agencies to discuss appropriate objectives for
reclamation.
We inadvertently left out the revised page V-29 from our last submittal. It is
attached. Table V-7 was updated with Technical Revision 60 (7/2004) showing
Refuse Area 2/3 reclamation scheduled for 2012. A copy of the current page is
attached.
We will consider initiating test plots at an earlier time. However, given the
observations to date, we hold little hope that additional studies with
conventional sequencing of the soil/topsoil will show us anything different in
relation to the cheatgrass issue than what is blatantly obvious on our current
topsoil and subsoil stockpiles.
9. Comments noted. Concerns of how to handle cheatgrass sites in the context of
reclamation objectives, success criteria, and reference areas need to be
discussed in depth at a future meeting.
10.
