SITE DESCRIPTION EXHIBIT B
SOILS INFORMATION
The following information was obtained from site observa-
tions and the basic soils and vegetation information found online
thru the USDA's National Soils information pages. The informa-
tion received from the soils service is made part of this appli-
cation. Soil units are shown on the USDA map, reproduced on page
24 following this text. This photo map shows the surrounding
vegetation features and soil types. Approximately 3.77 acres of
the area was mined in the early 1970's as part of an airport
project. There is no topsoil in this area as the floor of the
old mine has a gravel base. The gravels in this area lie on the
outer edge of a terrace that is 6 to 10 feet deep along the south
side of the property.
This deposit is a cr.avelly deposit underlaying the Cascajo, very
gravely loam, 5 to 25% slopes (CaE) and the Otero sandy loam, 1 to 5% slopes (OoC) so .:1
series . Trio ;e T:^ral z-oils descripti i t:_ t :e se sc: d t:scribe
the Cascajo soils as being very gravely and site investigations
indicate that is true. The Otero soils calls the soil a sandy
loam and makes no note of gravel up to 60 inches. Again, our
site visit conforms this. We believe there could be a layer of
gravel under this soil that ranges between 6 to 10 feet deep.
This soil is fairly deep averaging 60 inches deep. On this site
darker usable topsoil varies from 10 to 12 inches. Underlaying
this topsoil is a sandy loam that may be usable as topsoil. As
noted above approximately 3.77 ± acres was mined in the past.
The site was used as an old trailer house and other junk storage
area that the landowners are in the process of removing. There
is no soil of any kind on this area.
