Please accept this letter as a follow-up to our discussion regarding the
Substitute Water Supply Plan filing requirement for the Koenig Pit (M-1980-120). As we discussed, the pit is now
converted to water storage by the Central Colorado Water Conservation District. They and their consultants have
completed a slurry wall repair and are providing that information to the State Engineer's Office. We are awaiting the
State Engineer's approval of the slurry wall.
The Substitute Water Supply Plan (SWSP) for this gravel pit is being assembled by Leonard Rice Engineers for Central
Colorado Water Conservation District. As part of that plan, a copy of the well permit application has been prepared
and has been submitted by Weld County Public Works.
The timing and possible follow-up requests resulting from the State Engineer's Office review of the submitted
documents is unknown at this time. We therefore request a 120 day extension for filing of the accepted SWSP for the
Koenig pit.
We thank you for your consideration in this matter.
If you have any questions or need additional information, please feel free to contact me or Clay Kimmi at (970)304-
6496.
iL;V&04??
David Bauer, P.E., CFM
County Engineer - Development
Cc: Randy Ray, Central Colorado Water Conservation District
Joanna Williams, David Nettles, Colorado Division of Water Resources
K/Dave B/WaterRights/Koenig Extension Request - DRMS 9-8-09
