(Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID #: M-1983-n35
INSPECTION DATE: - A..?92m9
INSPECTORS INITIALS: RK
OBSERVATIONS
The Division conducted a monitoring inspection of the site as part of sites to be
inspected during the fiscal years 2009/2010. The site is an 80 acre phased sand and
gravel operation located 10 miles north of Colorado Springs. Site has been in reclamation
for the past few years with approximately all of the 37 affected acres backfilled and
graded. According to the annual report, the operator does not plan to mine in this area
in the future. However, if the operator does plan to mine in this area, unless the
current backfilled and graded acres are released form financial warranty liabilities, the
maximum acres to be affected at any given time is 10 acres. DRMS will not cite the fact
the total affected acres exceeded the maximum allowed because the site is in reclamation
and no additional acres will be disturbed. However if the site was active, it would have
been cited as a possible problem with a 60 day time frame to post the additional
warranty. The current warranty for the site in the amount of $23,500.00 appears to be
adequate to cover the cost of additional seeding and some grading work that will be
needed. Any changes to the current plan for the site will have to be submitted as a
Technical Revision, so the warranty can be adjusted accordingly.
The reclaimed backfilled and graded pit was walked and inspected. Pit slopes specially
the ones facing North and East were found to be well vegetated and stable. The West and
South facing slopes showed some minor rills. All drainage was captured in the pit bottom.
There was a very small amount of ponded water that was noted along the South Eastern
portion of the pit floor. What appeared to be wet lands vegetation was noted along the
south western portion of the reclaimed pit floor. No noxious weed infestation was noted
at the time of the inspection.
I & E Contact Address
NAME: SCOTT DAVIS
OPERATOR: SCHMIDIT CONSTRUCTION
STREET: 963.5 F)F1 TA
CITY/STATE/ZIP: C-01 QRADQ SPRINGS.
