All review and comment periods as provided in the Colorado Surface Mining Reclamation Act and the
Rules initiate from this date of filing.
Trapper Mining Inc. proposes to continue surface coal mining and/or reclamation operations on land located
approximately 6 miles Southwest of Craig, Colorado. The permit area is further described as follows:
Portions of Sections 1, 2, and 3, Township 5 North, Range 91 West of the 6th P.M.
Portions of Sections 30 and 31, Township 6th North, Range 90 West of the 6th P.M.
Portions of Sections 25, 26, 28, 33, 34, 35, and 36, Township 6 North, Range 91 West of the 6th P.M.
The above-mentioned tracts of land are shown on USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle map of Castor Gulch.
Trapper Mining Inc proposes to renew the mining and reclamation permit for the Trapper Mine. The renewal
application does not propose changes to the currently approved mine plan but does provide updates to ownership
and control of the property and officers of the company.
In accordance with the May 1991 Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between our agencies, we must have
your concurrence in order to approve -this proposal. We are required to make a finding that "the proposed
operations will not adversely affect any publicly owned park or place listed on or those places eligible for listing,
as determined by the SHPO, on the National Register of Historic Places, unless approved jointly by the Board and
the Federal, State, or local agency with jurisdiction over the park or place." Therefore, we request that you submit
comments regarding your concurrence with, concerns with, or objections to this proposal. In order that we may
comply with regulatory time frames, we request that comments be submitted within thirty (30) days of this letter.
Please refer to the MOU when undertaking your review.
COLORADO
DIVISION O F
RECLAMATION
MINING
SAFETY
Office of Office of
Mined Land Reclamation Denver • Grand junction • Durango Active and Inactive Mines
