111. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made
during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the inspection
and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
Reveaetation
• Much of the Benson property west of 2700 Road was green in appearance. Tom
indicated that this was actually kochia that had outpaced the species previously
seeded. WFC will be reseeding the affected portions of the parcel.
• Additional seeding is planned for the fall of 2009 on portions of the Lloyd parcel.
• Due to troubles with the seeding contractor in 2008, the area seeded was almost nil.
WFC hopes to regain ground this year.
Prime Farmland
• Topsoil in advance of the active pit operations had been dozer-stripped back to the
west in separate lifts (A and B). Tom Fry mentioned that both horizons are relatively thick
at the current location. (Layer thicknesses can and do vary from one spot to another.)
"Bench 1" material was exposed, and the shovel was working to remove this material
and place it in haul trucks.
New Horizon Mine C-1981-008 17-Aug-2009
-2-
