p?

Big Game Species
Primary species include elk, mule deer, and pronghorn antelope. No significant impacts are anticipated
from the 232 acres of surface disturbance. This minimal acreage will not impact overall summer, winter
or production areas for these species. As stated above, impacts with big game hunting opportunities
may arise in the future depending on location of ventilation shafts and any new roads or increase in the
use of existing roads on state trust lands.
We have appreciated the opportunity to work together with Sage Creek Coal Company LLC to benefit
wildlife on this and future projects. If you have any questions please contact Jim Haskins, Area Wildlife
Manager at 970-871-2842.
Sincerely,
Jim Haskins, Area Wildlife Manager
Steamboat Springs
cc: Ron Velarde, Regional Manager Dean Riggs, Assistant Regional Manager Lisa Rossi, WL
Conservation Biologist Steve Znamenacek, District Wildlife Manager Jim Komatinsky, Land Use Specialist
5
