in the center of the 80 acres. Area 3 will be approx. 10 acres. Area 4 is
approx. 10 acres and is located on the west side of the pit.
iii) Area one will be mined first, followed by area 2, 3, and 4 as described
above.
f) The pit will be accessed from Co. Rd. QQ. There is already one driveway
from Co. Rd.'QQ into the pit area. A second approach will be provided
approximately 500 feet north of the existing fill. This spot is set on top of a
small rise and gives drivers a much better view for traffic safety. This will
also expedite the follow of trucks into and out of the pit area. Both driveways
are included in the permitted pit area and will remain after reclamation for
land owner use. There will also be temporary haul roads inside the pit area,
but they will be removed as reclamation occurs.
g) There will be' no shop, plant, or other facilities permanently located at the
mine site. Equipment will be maintained at the site when mining is occurring.
This will be on a periodic basis since material will only be mined on an as
needed basis.. The equipment used to mine the gravel will be primarily a
scraper, dozer, front-end loader, and trucks. Fuel and equipment storage will
not be allowed in the actual pit. This and good housekeeping will minimize
the potential of any contamination. The final mine floor will be at least 20'
above static water level and should pose no threat to ground water.
Equipment will be serviced out of the mining area.
h) No water will: be used in conjunction with the operation. There could be
instances when heavy rainfall makes the site too muddy to continue. At those
times, mining will simply cease until the site becomes dry enough to mine
again. Mining will not go into the groundwater at the site.
i) The material to be mined will be used for road construction.
i) Test pits have shown good strength in the walls of test trenches. At a depth
of 20' there were deposits of reddish clay gravel. Our plans are to mine to a
depth of 45' if the material continues to be suitable.
ii) At this time we are not able to identify the material which will lie at the
bottom of the ;floor of our mined area.
j) The materials,to be removed from this pit include gravel and gravel with clay.
All material is intended to be used for road construction.
k) Actual mining will take place inside a 225' set back. Twenty-five feet will be
for an unimproved track for inspection and maintenance. The 200' remaining
will provide the cushion to adjacent landowners and public utilities along Co.
Rd. QQ. We also plan to stay 200 feet from the existing stock well and
