as alluvial with over one meter of sediments present. This site was originally recommended as
eligible for NRHP inclusion.
During this revisit, the area was examined using the original UTMs and the topographical
description. No cultural material was observed on the ridge or in Scotchman's Gulch to the south
or in the unnamed, intermittent drainage located to the north of the original site area. No evidence
of this site was relocated.
Eligibility and Management Recommendations. Site 5RT18 was originally recommended
as eligible based on the presence of over one meter of alluvial deposition. All artifacts were
collected at the time of the original documentation. All evidence of the site appears to have been
removed at this time and the site does not retain integrity. The fact that no additional cultural
material has eroded out over the intervening 33 years and no artifacts were visible in the drainage
cutbanks to the north and south of the site indicates that the originally recorded site was confined
to the surface. MAC recommends that this site be reevaluated as not eligible for inclusion on the
NRHP. No further work is recommended.
5RT19
Site Description. Site 5RT19 was originally recorded on 6/23/1975 as part of the CSU-
LOPA project. The site was situated on a secondary terrace at the confluence of two intermittent
drainages on the west side of County Road 27. The artifacts included one biface, one utilized flake,
one mano and numerous quartzite and chalcedony flakes. All of the artifacts were found in a
shallow drainage and were 100% collected as a part of this inventory. Although the deposition on-
site was described as deflated and slopewashed, the site was field recommended as needs data
primarily to determine its relationship to Site 5RT22 located across a drainage to the west.
A wide area surrounding the originally documented UTMs was searched during
thisattempted revisit. Given the age of the UTM information, the topographical and vegetation
descriptions were also used for guidance. No evidence of this site was relocated.
Eligibility and Management Recommendations. Site 5RT 19 was originally recommended
as needs data. This site was originally recorded on 6/23/1975 as part of the CSU-LOPA
project. According to the original site form, Site 5RT20 consisted of a 220 m N/S x 20 m E/W area
containing a "chert projectile point, chert "knife", six quartzite flakes and numerous chert pressure
flakes" (Cobb 1975). These'artifacts were all collected during the original inventory. The site is
situated on a north-facing slope south of the confluence of two intermittent drainages that exhibit
19
