Seneca II-W Mine Phase I Bond Release
Page 3
events. Minor rills, gullies and slumps have occurred and been remediated over the past years, however no
major instances of instability have been identified in the area requested for Phase I bond release.
Postmine drainage channels were designed and constructed to control runoff and erosion. All of these
channels were designed and constructed to control, at least the 10-year, 24-hour storm event. In most cases
where grades are steep, the size of the riprap used in the construction of the channels is at least 3 inches
larger than the design specifies. During the later phases of permanent channel construction, riprapped
channels have been replaced with TRM (turf re-enforcement material) lined channels. These postmine
drainage channels all ultimately flow to sediment ponds to ensure that water quality leaving the permit area is
within regulatory specified limits.
A copy of the Bond Release application is available for public inspection at the Hayden Public Library, 201 E.
Jefferson Avenue, Hayden, Colorado 81639. Written comments or objections or requests for public hearing
or informal conference concerning this application may be submitted to, and additional information obtained
from, the Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety, 1313 Sherman Street, Room 215, Denver,
Colorado 80203-2273, (303) 866-3567.
