Hammond:
The Division afReclarr?ation, Mining and Safety {Division} has completed its review afthe ZO??
Annual Reclamation Report for Snowcap Coal Company's {SCC's? Roadside North and South
Mines, The Annual Reclamation Report was submitted in timely manner and included the
required standardized reporting form., narrative, a detailed reclamation map, and seed tag
documentarian. During 2a08, seeding was completed at the South Portal and the "" Substation
was rerrlo?red, graded to app?ra?irrxate original contours and seeded. The reclaimed area at "C"
ubstatlon 1S ?.5 acres and is shown on the 2a?8 Annual Reclamation Map and reported on the
standardized form. overall, the report was well arganlzed and the documentatlan presented 1n
the report is adequate to meet the requirements of ?.0?.13. However, the D?vlslon has ldentifled
an error an the standardl?ed farm as desc?.bed below In the fallawln comment.
1, There appears to be an error in reporting the values far acreage inlong-term mining or
reclamation facilities on bath the 2aa7 and aaS standardized farms. The standardized
form was developed so that every acre of disturbance is accounted for and falls into one
of three categories; Acreage In active lYlll]ll]g area{A.?, Cumulative total of acres
back?illed and graded{B}, ar Acreage in long-terra lnlning or reclarnat?on fac?lrtles?C}.
one simple formula to follow so that the values are correctly reported is A++C=D,
where D is the Cumulative total acres disturbed. Cn the ?aa7 ARR standardized ?orrn the
11.7 acres bacl?filled and graded for the year should have been subtracted from the
Acreage inlong-term minlr? or reclarrlatlon facilities. Thus the value for Acreage in
long-term mining ar reclamation facilities should be 94.E acres instead o? 1 a5.?.
Lil?ewise, on the ??aS form the 0.5 acres bacl?fllled and graded for the year should have
been subtracted from the Acreage inlong-te?xn rrilning or reclamation faelllt?es. Thus the
value for Acreage inlong-term raining ar reclamation facilities on the ??? form should
Office of office of
Mined Land Rec?amatiori Denver • Gram ?unc?ion • Durango Active end inactive Mines
