Reclamation
When the pile is filled to capacity, the top of the fill will be graded 2% to 5% to
the south to promote adequate drainage. Drainage and collection ditches will be
cleaned and rehabilitated as necessary. Final reclamation will include placing
40,000 cubic yards of cover material and 60,000 cubic yards of topsoil, and
removal of the conveyor. Revegetation will be in accordance with Volume I,
Section 2.05.4. The Pasture seed mix will be utilized on the slopes and top of
the coal mine waste disposal area. The Irrigated hayland seed mix will be ~
utilized on the remaining area.
The seed mixture(s) will be hydroseeded or broadcast seeded. Seedbed
preparation for the coal mine waste disposal area shall consist of mild
roughening by track hoe gouging (pocking). Roughening provides for increased
moisture retention and favorable micro sites for plant establishment.
Roughening will not be utilized where the irrigated hayland seed mix is used.
Mulch will not be applied to the vegetated pasture or hayland. These areas will
be irrigated as necessary to establish vegetative growth.
The postmining land use of the subject area is cropland and pasture. The final
configuration of the coal mine waste disposal area is suitable for the pasture
postmining land use.
TR-45 - 10 - 10/06
