It is our understanding that all revisions to the mining plan associated with this
request will impact underground operations only. The subject site is approximately 23 miles SW of Steamboat
Springs in Routt County within portions of Sections 22, 23, 26 and 27 of Township 5N, Range 87 W.
This area is classified as an elk winter concentration area, a greater sage-grouse production area including lek
sites, and a Columbian sharp-tailed grouse production area including lek sites. However, since this proposed
revision to mining operations will be limited to underground operations, no impacts to wildlife would be
anticipated.
We have appreciated the opportunity to work together with Twentymile Coal Company to benefit wildlife. If
you have any questions please contact Jim Haskins, Area Wildlife Manager at 970-871-2842.
Sincer
11 Jim Haskins, Area Wildlife Manager
cc: Ron Velarde, Regional Manager
Dean Riggs, Assistant Regional Manager
Lisa Rossi, WL Conservation Biologist
Danielle Domson, District Wildlife Manager
Steve Znamenacek, District Wildlife Manager
DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES, Hams D.
