SL -03 Phase H (for maj-orh of disturbed areal
Surety Release No. 3 (SL -03) was a Phase 11 bond release for the main body of reclamation as
shown on Figure A -1 of the SL -03 application on lands located in section 29, T33S, R67W. The
cumulative total acreage of areas labeled A through R on Figure A -1. equals 51.26 acres.
Specifically excluded from this Phase II request are three small reclaimed areas; the NW -1
ventilation shaft and road, the Lower Apache Canyon ventilation shaft, and the Upper Apache
Canyon ventilation shaft. The NW- 1*disturbance was reclaimed and re- seeded in 1999. The
Apache Canyon reclaimed areas were originally disturbed under the New Elic Mine permit ( #C-
81 -012) but incorporated into the Golden Eagle mine permit (#C -81 -013) under SL -02, Industrial
Land Use Bond Release and Release of Liability of Areas Over Underground Workings. Both
Apache Canyon sites have also been reclaimed.
Bond release application (SL -03) reduced the required bond amount by $1.92,501, leaving
$173,094, or 15% of the original bond ($1,153,959) for reclamation of Golden Eagle. (15% X
$1,153,959 = $173,094).
SL -04 Phase I NW -1 Ventilation Shaft
Two revisions to the permit have modified the required reclamation bond liability since the
• approval of Bond Release No. 3 (SL -03). Technical Revision No. 54 (TR 54) reduced
hydrologic monitoring and approved a bond reduction of $40,375.00. Then, as a result of
Technical Revision #55 (TR 55), the required total bond amount for the NW 1 shaft was
increased from $17, 421.00 to $91,335.00. Since the Division already held. $17,421.00, it was
necessary to increase the required bond amount by $73,914.14, that when added to the existing
liability of $132,719 resulted in the current required bond amount to be held by the Division of
$206,633.14. The applicant is requesting the maximum allowed bond amount of $54,801.00,
which is 60% of the NW-1 vent site reclamation liability amount of $91,335.00, be released as a
result of this Phase I request. Table C below details the changes to the bond amount as a result of
previous bond releases and recent revisions.
Table C
Application
Pre- release
HK,h
Post - release
liability
Comments
Phase I (SL -01)
.$1,153,959
$477,085
$676,874 released
Industrial (SL-02)
$477,085
$365,595
$111,490 released
Phase II (SL -03)
363,595.
$173,094
15 % of $1,153,959
11 i
t
TR --54
$173,094
$132,719
Bond reduction
TR 55
$132,719
$206,633.14
NW-1 increase
x
