Downcutting of ditches, especially in the area above the west downdrain at Fill 7 and the
Pond 6 watershed was observed noted and shown below. Due to improving cover, these
gullies should stabilize as vegetation continues to improve the stability of the reclaimed area.
Re-shaping of these drainageways is appropriate at this time when ground conditions allow.
+ 9 y
.?? ? •,f try.. . 1 ` e,
- ? j
The two upper terrace benches on Fill 7 should be restored to direct flow to the side
downdrains. Some sediment build-up has resulted in ponding of drainage on the terrace
benches. The operator should conduct this work with the minimum amount of damage to the
reclaimed slopes.
Revegetation
The operator has completed the fencing of an area for shrub transplants in accordance with
the approved permit and as proposed under Technical Revision No. 16 (TR-16) that is
currently under review by the Division.
A more serious infestation of knapweed is present on the steep slope south of the gas road
as it exits the disturbed area on the west side. This area is immediately below where plants
were first identified. Many of these plants are in bloom and easily identifiable. The operator
should treat these plants immediately. A few plants were also noted above the east
downdrain on Fill 8 and a few more were observed on the upper outslope just west of this
area.
Overall, the reclaimed area appeared in fair condition for the summer season.
