Haneywood did not <br />adequately demonstrate that water quality in the pond and in the discharge from the pond <br />meet the provisions and criteria of 4.5.9 ?13??a}. There was no specific discussion of <br />surface water quality provided 1n the rev1s1on application. Please provide a denrzonstration <br />for Pond B that includes an evaluatlan of the water quality Yn the pond, a comparison of <br />pond effluent to appropriate stzea?n segment standards, and description of compliance <br />andlor noncompliance with CDP? effluent limits. Por the evaluation ofwater quality m the <br />pond, the CDPHE, water duality control commission -,Agricultural standards for surface <br />water should be used as the testing parameters. These are deemed to be the most <br />appropriate and applicable standards f or a perrnane?at stock pond that i intended to be <br />primarily used for livestock watering..Agriculture estate use classified} surface waters are <br />defined as suitable or intended to become suitable waters for irrigation of crops usually <br />grown in Colorado and which are not hazardous as drinking water for livestock. To show <br />compliance with 4.?5.9?13} ?a}, the operator should demonstrate that the impounded water <br />is of suitable quality for livestock watering. Please provide a laboratory analysis cif this has <br />not already been previously provided and a comparison of the pond water quality with the <br />Agricultural standards for surface water. Please incorporate the requested information into <br />the revision application materials. <br />?. since Pond B is now being requested as a permanent postmine feature, the operator should <br />aggressively i?nplerr?ent the approved weed control plan and control the growth of Tanaar?sk <br />and o.er weeds that have been recently reported in DRN? inspections of the area in and <br />around Pond B. <br />Let me know 1f you have questions or require addlt?anal ?nformatlon. <br />c: andy drown
