ATTACHMENT A
FIGURE 13-4
• FLOODPLgIN DEVELOPMENT PERMIT
An application has been made for placement of a flood
control dike on the west bank of the Colorado River north of the
Cameo Bridge.
Common Location of the site is east of the
Intersection of the 39 Road and J Raad lines. '
(Colorado River mile station is 406.00 miles
above Lee's. Ferry.)
The subject property lies within the AFT zoning district of
Mesa County and the use described •is in conformance with uses
listed as appropriate far this zone; such 'use is allowed•in flood
prone areas, subject to successful application for a Floadplain
Development Permit. '
A summary of the permit application process follows:
• Initial application was made for Floodplain Development
Permit. on October 6, 1984. 1:he body of the material submitted
dealt with the proposed construction and effect of diking this
area. Also, the application included statements of "no affect"
of this operation on adjoining people and property.
Materials provided by the applicant and subsequent review
have enabled the following evaluations to be made:
1) This dike when constructed will protect a coal
conveyor from flooding and also the counties bridge
from future erosion at the west end.
2) The pre-flood water carrying capacity of the river
will not be affected.
3) The flood control dike will have a negligable effect
• on the floodwater height, velocity, and direction
during a 100-year flood event. _ .
. 4) The passibility of increased erasion will ba minimized.
6) A temporary diversion berm will be placed in the river
at the time of construction.
