(Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID #: M-1989-095
INSPECTION DATE: 7/23/09 INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: ECS
OBSERVATIONS
This was a routine monitoring inspection for an active 110c clay pit operation conducted by Eric Scott of
DRMS for the Phillips County Schneller Clay Pit site. DRMS toured the site with Phillips County
representative Randy Schafer at approximately 1035.
The required site entrance postings and site boundary markers were present, and the mine appeared to be in
compliance at the time of the inspection. Activities on the south side of the site are very close to the permit
boundary. It may be useful to place another intermediate permit marker in this area so that pit workers are more
aware of the southern limit of the permitted area. Disturbances and items associated with the mining operation
all need to remain within the permit boundaries. Several weeds that should be eliminated, such as thistle, were
noted as well although the issue was not widespread.
The Division would also like to encourage that concurrent reclamation activities be conducted wherever
possible.
I & E Contact Address
Randy Schafer
Phillips County Administrator
221 South Interocean Ave
Holyoke, CO 80734
