MINOR REVISION NO. 44
With the submittal of Minor Revision No. 44, Coors Energy Company (CEC) seeks to
modify and update portions of the text of Permit (C-1981-028) for the Keenesburg Mine
operation, in response to suggestions made in the 2009 Mid-term Review evaluation,
performed by the Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety (Division). The changes
proposed in this minor revision are specifically related to "identification of interests";
with minor adjustments/updates to the text for "compliance information", notice
information, "geologic description" and "operations plan".
While there have been changes to the names and positions within both Coors; Energy
Company and Coors Brewing Company (CBC), as identified on pages 4b and 4c, the
companies relationship to each other is unchanged (CBC remains the "parent" of CEC).
Note: Alternate pages for both 4b and 4c are provided. One shows only the current
officers and the other both current and past (lined-through) officers. Pages 3, 4 and
Appendix A-2 reflect the current known property (surface and minerals) ownership and
the identity of neighbors to the Keenesburg Mine operation.
The modification to Compliance Information is the removal of specific references to
violation notices that are more than ten years old, and, in the case of MSHA were issued
by an agency that no longer maintains a jurisdictional presence at the facility.
The update to notice information acknowledges that the most recent legal notice related
to a Permit renewal application was published in the New News, a Keenesburg paper that
is no longer in business. Future notices applicable to this Permit will be published in the
Ft. Lupton Press, the closest recognized "local" publication.
The changes to the text for "Geologic Description" correct text errors and acknowledge
that A-Pit is now closed and reclaimed.
Finally, the modification of the "Operations Plan" text provides an update of the facilities
still in use at the site, along with a recent calculation of the amounts of topsand available
versus amounts necessary for the completion of reclamation operations.
In accordance with current standard procedure, the Division is furnished with three (3)
copies of each of the above-described documents. CEC requests the Division's approval
of the contents of this Minor Revision No. 44, as appropriate changes to the text of the
Permit document.
Changed pages/text, in the order found in the Permit:
- Pages 1 thru 4 - General office fax number, resident agent and payor of
abandoned mine land reclamation fee, Director and Officers, surface and
