SOILS INFORMATION
EXHIBIT I
The soil survey performed by the NRCS covers the permit area. The soil mapping is shown on
Map C-1. The associated soil types descriptions are enclosed in this exhibit.
The primary soils of the site are:
1) 760 - Mesa clay loam, 0 to 2 percent slopes
2) 763 - Mesa gravely loam, 2 to 5 percent slopes
3) 793 - Cynfeske clay loam, 2 to 8 percent slopes
4) 802 - Typic Haplocambids, 12 to 60 percent slopes
5) 901 - Haplic Torriarents, (Gravel Pits)
6) 904 - Urban land and Lizzydea and Mesa soils, 0 to 5 percent slopes
Topsoil will be used to reclaim as it is stripped, with the exception of the initial stockpile which
will be used for final reclamation. As mining progresses and overburden is encountered, it too
will be used immediately for reclamation. By reclaiming while mining, all soil will be salvaged
as best as possible.
The topsoil pile will be seeded within a year after it is created with the same rangeland mix
shown in the reclamation plan.
It is expected that approximately 4" to 8" inches of strippable topsoil will be available from the
disturbed areas.
Moonscape Pit, July 2009 I-1
