WILDLIFE INFORMATION EXHIBIT H
1) Significant Game Resources on the Affected Lands
Mule deer and elk are probably the most critical game resource in this area. The current
landscape offers cover for deer, elk and small mammals in the unnamed drainage areas, which
will not be disturbed during mining. There are a few small cottonwood trees in the drainages.
Wildlife will use the irrigated pastures to the east of the site for forage year round. The irrigated
pasture on site does not provide cover or forage for wildlife since it has been abandoned for three
years.
2. Significant Non-Game Resources on the Affected Lands
Fox and coyote are probably the most critical non-game resource in this area. Other small
animals will feed in the irrigated pastures of the area as well as the rangeland areas. The
rangeland portion of the permit area provides better cover for wildlife. There are no known
raptor nests on the permit area or in the vicinity. See Map C-2A for the vegetation communities.
3. Seasonal Use of Affected Lands
The permit area is of low value to the deer and elk in the winter months since this site has
minimal vegetation.
4. Presence and Estimated Population of Threatened or Endangered species in the area.
None.
5. Fish Resources
None.
Moonscape Pit, July 2009 H-1
