Cattany
Division Director
Natural Resource Trustee
RE: Red Cliff Mine, Permit Application No. C-2008-086
Dear Mr. Stover:
CAM-Colorado LLC has requested an extension to the Red Cliff Mine application decision
deadline from July 15, 2009 to August 31, 2010. The extension has been requested due to delays
with the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) and the possibility of a supplemental
DEIS. A decision regarding the need for a SDEIS will be made by the Bureau of Land
Management (BLM) within the next couple of weeks.
The Division will grant an extension to the decision deadline until August 31, 2009. At that time
the need for whether or not a SDEIS is necessary will be known and the Division may consider
extending the decision deadline to coincide with the timing of a Record of Decision (ROD).
A further extension will be considered if CAM does not revise the plans presented in the
application submitted on June 23, 2008 and provides a date by which they plan to respond to the
Division's preliminary adequacy review and transmittal of comments correspondence dated
August 29, 2008, September 9, 2008, February 2, 2009 and April 9, 2009. If CAM elects to
revise the plans submitted in the original application, it will be necessary to withdraw it and
resubmit a new permit application.
Please contact me if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
L
Sandra L.
