Since the application is for a 110 permit, the operation will have limited employee; and truck
traffic. The plan calls for the operation to build a road and culvert that we will maintain. In
addition, I have spoken with the county highway and road department about providing gravel for
the roads in the area. It should not present undo tax stress on the county for additional road
maintenance, schools, sewer, water supply or other public services. Tax revenue should increase
with the operation purchasing food, gas, materials and supplies from local merchants.
The total BLM land zoned for mining is 80 acres. The acreage does not have river or lake access,
little aspen growth, no hiking trails, with no camping, hunting, or four-wheel driving being
allowed. Currently the City of Fairplay allows panning at the Fairplay Beach area, charging the
residents and visitors a fee to enjoy the panning experience. That is great and I encourage them
to continue to do that. The proposed mining area is about a half mile from the Historic Town of
Fairplay and separated by grasslands, Fairplay Beach, previous mining tailings, Platte River and a
parcel of land. In essence, the operation is in an area that is removed enough that visitors and
residents will continue to enjoy the recreational activities offered by the area.
In submitting this letter and application, I have addressed the operational outline and makeup
while answering questions that may arise from your Department and other agencies. Thank you
for your consideration with this application for a 110 mining permit and should you have
questions or need additional information, please feel free to contact me.
Sincerely,
Boyd Astemborski
Member
Destiny Mining, LLC
