ENT OF
1 -
United States Department of the Interior
Bureau of Land Management -? `
TAKE PRIDE'
4'ggCH 3 ?Ba 3170 East Main Street INAMERICA
Canon City, Colorado 81212
In Reply Refer to:
3809 Astemborski
(C0200) MS
January 4, 2007
Boyd Astemborski
P.O. BOX 627
Manitou Springs, CO 80829
-- Dear Mr. Boyd 7?Vs-feinnorski:- --
This letter is in response to your request for information pertaining to drilling a water well on BLM
property on your mining claims in Fairplay, Colorado. Water well permits can be obtained from the
Colorado State Engineer, information regarding application procedures can be found at
httj2://water.state.co.us/groundwater/groundwater.asp.
Most wells on BLM lands have water rights associated with them. In a situation such as this one we
will usually work with the applicant to find a solution with BLM owning the water right. From the
BLM standpoint, other parties cannot hold water rights on BLM lands. Any improvements (i.e. water
wells) that may be constructed would need a right-of way from us and when work is finished, all of
these improvements would need to be reverted to the BLM. In order to get a right-of-way from us we
would have to conduct an environmental review of the proposal. These reviews usually will have a
public comment period where other parties can get involved.
Please send us a courtesy copy of any application materials that are submitted to the State Engineer
so that we can keep track of your application process. If you have any further questions, please
contact Dan Grenard or Melissa Smeins of my staff 719-269-8500.
Sincerely,
'?Z?

Roy L.
