Cripple Creek & Victor Gold Mining Company
Cresson Project
Quality Assurance Monitoring and Test Results ameO
Load Out Bin Relocation
July 7, 2009
6.1.1 Conformance Testing
Geomembrane manufactured by Poly-Flex was installed in the LOB. An AMEC representative
performed geomembrane conformance sampling at the Poly-Flex plant in Grand Prairie, Texas.
Samples were sent to TRI/Environmental, Inc. geosynthetic laboratory in Austin, Texas, for
conformance testing. Geomembrane rolls were not used on the project unless approved by
AMEC based on conformance test results.
Prior to the geomembrane arrival to site, TRI performed 3 conformance tests at a frequency of
one test per 78,775 square feet, exceeding the minimum specified testing frequency of one test
per 150,000 square feet. Conformance testing for the 80-mil smooth and 100-mil single sided
texture LLDPE geomembrane used to construct the LOB liner system met specifications.
Conformance test results are presented in Appendix K.
6.1.2 Deployment Monitoring
Geomembrane panel deployment monitoring performed by AMEC included:
¦ Observation of panel surface condition and panel overlap;
•
0
¦ Assignment of panel numbers;
¦ Verification of factory roll number and receipt of complete certification prior to allowing
deployment;
¦ Measurement of sheet thickness;
¦ Documentation of deployed panel lengths;
¦ Development of panel layout record drawing; and
¦ Observation of Phase IVc tie-in.
Prior to the deployment of geomembrane, AMEC and Lonestar verified that the subgrade was
free of soft spots, protrusions, angular particles, abrupt grade changes, and loose soil. AMEC
and Lonestar verified that the SLF surface had been proof-rolled, and that the SLF surface was
free of desiccation cracks. Where the surface of the SLF did not meet specifiations, Ames
repaired the area and re-compacted the surface. Lonestar provided written certification of
geomembrane subgrade acceptance. The subgrade acceptance certificates are presented in
Appendix G.
SAPROJECTS\1125E CCV CQA\H3 - CONSTRUCTION\LOB CERT REPORT\REPORT BODY\LOB CERT REPORT 2009.07.07.DOC
18
