JPN-21 93 22:35 FROM: T0:264 7620 PAGE.,02
KINEZ) L M WILDLIFE 9TkTr6K T/EVTZ ATION (R@v ised.)
for limited impact and select regular mine applications
The following information pertaining to wildlife is provided for
use by dined Land Reclamation Board in their con-seder-tion of a
mining permit for:
All Rite Paving & Redi-Mix, Inc. T23S, R,57WT portions of Sec 19, 20,
and 21
Wildlife Species List:
Antelope, mule deer, white-tailed deer, cottontail rabbit, black-
tailed jack rabbit, coyote, swift fox, red -tailed hawk, prairie
falcon, ferruginous hawk-, kestrel, meadowlark, lark bunting, vespe
sparrow, western boas turtle, bull snake, coach whip snake, eastern
fence lizard, prairie rattlesnake, and various song bards.
Endangered/Critical. Special/Impa;cte=d:
None Known.
Critical Habitats/Vegetative CormrLunities Impacted:
Short grass prairie varying in quality from good to fatir Includes
some choya, side oats gramma, Indian rice grass, koshia, bindweed,
buffalo grass, and yucca. The site is near farmland, though it
borders prairie in most areas. Isaw no prairie dogs on site, but
did see some nearby, this could change impacts some.
Assessment of Impact: -
As designed in 50 acre tracts impacts should be temporary with no
more than 100 acres being mined/reclaimed at any one time. All
topsoil should be stockpiled and stored for use during reclamatior
and seeded with a temporary seed min: to prevent loss from wind anc
water erosion. Reclaimed sites should be fenced to exclude use bl
livestock until bond is released. Reclaimed areas should be slope(
to approximate contours and drainage that existed prior to mining
as best as possible.
Nine Reclamation Reconmendations (include key species/habitats foa
which restoration is designed) :
Plant native short grass grasses, forbs, and shrubs as per NRCSIf
prairie dogs move into the site I would recommend not digging up
new areas with burrows except from October through February, to
protect burrowing owle. The plan of not excavating more than 50
acres at a time would be v'ery helpful. I would recommend that the
50 acre tracts be rec=laimed as soon ae possible after a new tract
is started.
Prepared By:
Steve Keefer
Date: 17 June 2004
?e/ 7
pate: 2 i July 2004
Submitted By: Travis Blac
This statement is void if not processed within 1 year.
This analysis does, not conatitute approval of application.
