The area was mined per- law by the county and the small pit area that is
now being utilized by the current operator to mine the turquoise includes a portion of
the per- law affected acreage. The current disturbance is still less than 1/2 acre and
follows the per law disturbed area. Depth of the trench is less than 2 feet and
approximately SO feet long. The current disturbance was not much bigger than the
disturbance noted when the site was inspected 4 years ago. The per- law high walls stable
no major sign of slope failure noted. A small amount of overburden/ top soil was noted
along the south side of the active working area. The only mechanized equipment utilized
to remove the turquoise is a small front end loader, that was noted parked in a shed
outside of the permit area. The current warranty in the amount of $1,000.00 is more than
adequate to cover the cost of reclaiming the less than an acre of disturbance associated
with the current permit area, excluding the per- law disturbance.
The operation is in compliance with the approved reclamation plan.
