(Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID #: 144-9007-031
INSPECTION DATE: 7-,41 in4
INSPECTOR=S INITIALS: _ RK
OBSERVATIONS
The Division conducted a monitoring inspection of the site in response to a call received from area residents regarding a
possible discharge from the settling ponds. The site is a small 110 less than two acres maximum affected acres placer gold
processing operation located approximatelyl/2 mile north west of Cripple Creek.
Present during the inspection was Mr. Foster Scott the operator. The entire area was walked and inspected . All the ponds
were holding water but were not discharging at the time of the inspection. as reported in earlier inspection reports, Mr.
Scott has a valid storm water discharge permit from the Colorado Department of Health and Environment. These ponds are
considered settling ponds and meet the criteria as best management practice. Because of their location within the dry
gulch.
According to Mr. Scott, no processing of any kind had taken place on site this season. Mr. Scott agreed to beef up a
portion of the lower pond berm above the small settling pond to give it additional detention time. Since it is within the dry
gulch and the area had received above average precipitation, the ponds are allowed to discharge under the approved
storm water permit because the water shed for the gulch cover hundreds of acres above the operation.
Permit boundary markers properly in place, and sign posted at the access to the property
I & E Contact Address
NAME: MR FOSTER SCOTT
OPERATOR: THE TURQUOIS CONNECTION
STREET: gin PRAY AVE
CITY/STATE/ZIP: rAKjnN cTTY, cni GRAD- 81917
cc: F CE
F BL
F FS
F HW
t HMWMD (CH)
F SE
F WQCD (CH)
F OTHER
