The Lafarge Brown property is dominated by pasture grasses and weedy plant species. The Cache
La Poudre River corridor to the northwest of the property contains lowland riparian vegetation.
These areas provide habitat to many wildlife species. However, the presence of invasive and exotic
plant species, throughout the area and along the river channel, somewhat diminishes the quality of
habitat.
According to Colorado Division of Wildlife's Natural Diversity Information Source GIS data
(CDOW-NDIS 2008), the following wildlife habitats occur in the vicinity of the Lafarge Brown
property:
• Greater prairie chicken historic range,
• Preble's jumping mouse overall range,
• Black-tailed prairie dog overall range,
• Bald eagle winter range, winter concentration, and winter/summer foraging areas, and
• Mule deer summer and winter range.
A general wildlife survey of the Lafarge Brown property was conducted on February 5, 2009. All
raptor nests within half a mile of the property were documented and photographed, and a photo
point was established in the area to document the existing condition of the property. Figures H-2
and H-3 provide maps of the Lafarge Brown property with photo points and raptor nest locations.
The photographs that were taken during the survey are included in Appendix H.I. Table H-1
provides the wildlife species observed during the survey.
Table H-1.
