<br />NOTICE OF PROPOSED
<br />DECISION
<br />The Colorado Division of Reclamation,
<br />Mining and ' Safety proposes to
<br />Approve Permit Renewal Application .
<br />No. 5 (RN-5), submitted by Bear
<br />Coal Company, Inc. for a coal mining
<br />permit at the Bear Mine (Permit No.
<br />C-1981-033). The proposed renewal
<br />will allow for continued reclamation
<br />operations at the site.
<br />The Bear Mine is located in Gunnison
<br />County, just east of Somerset,
<br />Colorado, Colorado. Coal interest
<br />at this underground mine is Federal,
<br />and the surface to be affected. is
<br />Federal and private land. The permit
<br />area encompasses approximately
<br />1,108.40 acres.
<br />This proposed decision is based on
<br />a finding that the proposed operation
<br />will comply with all requirements of
<br />the Colorado Surface Coal Mining
<br />Reclamation Act, Section 34-33-101
<br />et seq., C.R.S., and the regulations
<br />promulgated thereunder.
<br />A copy of the "Proposed Decision and
<br />Findings of Compliance", including
<br />any stipulations, is on file for public
<br />inspection at the Colorado Division .
