The geotechnical
investigation plan is divided into five groups consisting of:
String Borehole Approx. Elevation Fftl
First Group B 1, B 10 (Optional) 6,190
Second Group B2 6,320
Third Group B3, B4 6,380
Fourth Group B5, B6 6,570
Fifth Group B7, B8, B9 (Optional) 6,800
The expected stratigraphy below the preliminary footprint of the proposed East RPE area
and general borehole information is as follows:
Thin layer of topsoil, with alluvial deposits at the bottom of the draw from
seasonal runoff being concentrated in this area. Sand, gravel and sizable boulders
are expected along the bottom of the draw.
• 10 to 30 feet of colluvium underneath organic soils and alluvial deposits.
Borehole logs and field mapping will confirm this.
• Interbedded sandstone, siltstone, and shale of the Upper Coal Member of the
Mesaverde Formation underlying the colluvium. The corehole logs will confirm
the thickness and limited stratigraphy.
H:\ENV PERMITTING\REVISIONS-MINOR\MR-354\East_RPE_Area_Boring Memo VI.doc
