Bond Release Application No. 5 (SL-5)
Dear Sir or Madam:
Snowcap Coal Company, Inc. has applied for a bond release at the Roadside Portals. The bond release
application was found complete by this Division on June 23, 2009. Snowcap Coal Company is
requesting release of Phase III bond liability on 2.1 reclaimed acres of its total 3,016 acres within the
permit boundary at the Roadside North and South Portals Mine. The Phase III bond release is for 2.1
disturbed acres that have been fully reclaimed. The specific location for the Phase III Bond Release
request is at the Overland Conveyor area. A surety bond in the amount of $1,646,038.00 is in place of
which $10, 073.00 is being requested for release. The surface ownership is Federal and private, and
the coal mined was Federal and private.
We will contact you to advise you of the Division's required bond release inspection of the site as soon
as it has been scheduled. A proposed decision on the application will be issued within sixty (60) days
of our inspection.
