stripped and ensure that it correlates with the amount of topsoil that will be spread over the
disturbed area for reclamation. All available topsoil will need to be salvaged for reclamation.
8.) Will any water diversions or impoundments be installed to help mitigate the storm water
issue cited in Item 6 above? If so, please display them on the mining plan map, and provide the
dimensions of these structures?
9.) Will any explosives be used in conjunction with this mining operation? If so please submit
the required Geotechnical Stability exhibit pursuant to Rule 6.5 (4), and demonstrate that
offsite areas will not be adversely affected by blasting.
Rule 6.4.5 Exhibit E - Reclamation Plan:
10.) In conjunction with the mining plan, and the Divisions comments for item #6 above, please
give a timeline and the sequence in which the mine phases will be reclaimed. Will they be
reclaimed concurrently with mining? If so, when will reclamation begin on a certain phase?
11.) Please clarify how many inches of topsoil will be spread over the reclamation area? All
salvaged topsoil will need to be used for reclamation. This depth should correlate to the depth
the topsoil will be salvaged in the mine plan.
12.) In item (e) in the exhibit it states, "area to be reclaimed will be 25' X 300' X 400'." Please
explain this statement.
13.) The reclamation plan indicates that the NRCS has given recommendations for the seed
mixture and fertilizer that will be used to revegetate this site. This information was not
enclosed with the application. Also, it states that revegetation is not required. That statement
is incorrect; the site will need to be revegetated. The current approved seed mixture for this
site consists of the following seed mixture:
Species PLS per Acre
Western Wheatgrass 3.2
Little Blue Stem 1.05
Galleta .6
Blue Grama .9
Side Oats Grama .25
Winterfat .5
Yellow Sweet Clover .35
Does the applicant intend on using the current approved seed mixture? The seeding rate will
need to be doubled if the applicant intends on hand broadcasting the seed mixture instead of
drill seeding the mixture.
