(Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID #: M-1991-021
INSPECTION DATE: 6/03/2009
OBSERVATIONS
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS THM
This inspection was conducted as part of the normal monitoring program established by the Colorado Division of
Reclamation, Mining and Safety. Virginia Acres is currently in final reclamation. Virginia Acres is located west of
30 Road approximately 3 miles east of Grand Junction, Colorado. Virginia Acres is a 17.7 acre, 112c operation.
Justin Aubert of United Companies accompanied the inspector during the inspection.
The site is inactive and currently in the final phases of reclamation. No equipment is present and no evidence of
recent mining related activity was observed.
All sloping appeared to be at the required 3H:1 V. Revegetation efforts were successful on all pond slopes except for
the south facing slopes at the north and northwest portion of the pond. The area located near the entrance of the pit
appeared to be compacted and annual weeds were the primary vegetation present. Also, a large block of concrete
was present and should be removed to meet the requirements of the reclamation plan. Based on the conditions
observed approval of a complete release is not likely until all areas that are covered by annual weeds are revegetated
with the approved seed mix
Addition of topsoil and ripping/tilling of the compacted soils to provide a better seedbed for the seed mix might
increase the overall success of the revegetation efforts.
Russian Knapweed was observed along the northeastern edge of the pond. This is not seen as a problem due to an
active weed management plan and is documented to be used as a tool to monitor weed management success during
future inspections.
. No erosion or offsite damage was observed.
In an effort to ensure the financial warranty remains adequate to reclaim this site per the requirements of the
approved reclamation plan, DRMS will update the reclamation cost estimate. The estimate will be forwarded to the
operator under separate cover.
Photos that show the conditions observed during the June 3, 2009 inspection are included at the end of this report.
Responses to this inspection report should be directed to Travis Marshall at the Division of Reclamation, Mining
and Safety, Grand Junction Field Office, 101 South 3`d Street, Room 301, Grand Junction, Colorado 81501, phone
no. 970-241-2042.
I & E Contact Address cc:
NAME: Justin Aubert ?
