VENTURE RESOURCES INC.
P.O. Box 1974
2268 County Road 281
Idaho Springs, Colorado 80452
ventureresources(a,att.net
Mission:
The mission of Venture Resources Inc. is to set the standard for clean
up of toxic mine waste dumps on private property. These dumps are low
----grade ore-that was-mined-at-the-tunrof the-century. a1ld-contain-fairiy-large---- - -
amounts of iron pyrite (iron sulfide), lead, zinc, copper, arsenic, and other
heavy metals. The main pollutant is the iron pyrite, which weathers into iron
oxide and sulfuric acid, causing the run-off waters to be highly acidic and
carrying lots of heavy metals.
Methods of clean up:
The only effective method, and the preferred method of the EPA, is to
remove the heavy metals so that they do not contaminate the surface and
ground waters. Venture Resources has engineered a plan to process the
mine dumps using a facility that separates the heavy metals from the host
rock, using both gravity and flotation concentration technology. The heavy
metal laden concentrates can be shipped off to a smelter for further
processing. A purified product of mainly inert sands and clays can then be
put into a carefully managed solid waste impoundment and reclaimed into
beautiful mountain property.
The other methods of burial/capping or removal to another area do not
solve the problem; they are costly and either hide the problem or move it
somewhere else. The financial burden is ultimately on the taxpayer.
