•
III. The Proposed Action
On June 26, 2008, Twentymile Coal Company submitted Technical Revision No. 64,
(TR-64), Phase II Development of Western Mining District to CO-DRMS proposing to
extend coal recovery operations in Federal lease COC-67514 for the first time in the
mine's Northern mining district and to extend development mining in Federal leases
COC-20900 and COC-081330, in the mine's Western Mining District beyond the areas
approved in previous mining plan approvals. Specifically, this mining plan action would
authorize Twentymile Coal Company to recover approximately 8.4 million tons of coal
within the area covered by Colorado State permit C-1982-056, in:
Township 5 North, Range 86 West, 6t' P.M.
Section 5; Lot 4, SWI/4NEI/a, S1hNE1/a, SI/2NWI/a, NWI/4SEI/a,
Section 19; NI/z, NI/2SI/z portions thereof;
Section 20; NI/z, NI/2SI/2 portions thereof.
The life of the mining operations is expected to continue for an additional two (2)
years under Colorado Permit C-1982-056 and this proposed mining plan modification.
• The average annual production rate and the maximum production rate would not change.
The approved State permit area would not increase from its present 19,940.0 acres and
surface disturbance within the approved State permit area would not increase from its
present 530.8 acres.
This mining plan modification will not add any more acres of Federal surface lands or
Federal coal to the approved permit area shown on the map included with this decision
document.
This mining plan modification will authorize the recovery of approximately 8.4 million
tons of Federal coal previously included in the approved permit area, as shown on the
map included with this decision document.
The post mining land use within the permit and mining plan area would not change.
The CO-DRMS has not placed any Special Conditions on this permitting action.
Twentymile Coal Company's proposal does not require any additional special conditions
to comply with Federal laws.
•
