This revision is to drill up to five (5)
geotechnical boreholes and completing up to three of these boreholes as either a piezometer or an inclinometer
(see the attached typical instrumentation installations drawing.)
As shown on the attached drawing, two boreholes will be drilled into the existing cutslopes located along the
main access/haul road below the material storage bench and the maintenance shop. For temporary access to
these sites, 24"culverts will be laid in the existing ditches and up to 20 yards of gravel placed to create a
diagonal ramp so that the rig can reach the cutslope borehole sites without blocking the main access road. After
completion of the inclinometer or piezometer installations at these sites, the gravel and culverts will be removed
and the site and ditches cleaned. The redisturbed areas of the cutslope will be recontoured and seeded as well.
Up to three boreholes will be drilled atop the existing Lower Refuse Pile (LRP). One of these holes may be
completed as a piezometer or inclinometer. The boreholes will be rotary drilled to approximately 55 feet in
depth and will be about 10" in diameter. After completion of drilling and geotechnical sampling of the
boreholes, the holes will be backfilled with cuttings (unless completed as a piezometer or inclinometer.)
MCC anticipates that this project will be completed within one week. Also attached is the revision form.
MCC would appreciate the Division's assistance in providing reclamation estimates and associated bond
readjustment calculations for this project.
