Marr Mine - 2006 Annual Hydrology Report March 2006
2.0 MONITORING AND ANALYSES
Water monitoring activities during the 2006 water year (Oct. 2005 through Sept. 2006) were
generally based on the revised hydrologic monitoring schedule as approved in Technical Revision
No. 19 (TR-19), Table 61 (revised August 1999). TR-19 included a proposal to reduce monitoring
activities. In response letters dated January 20, 1999 and October 1, 1999, the DRMS accepted
the following modifications to that monitoring schedule:
Surtace water sites 300, 306, 314, 316, 317, 318, 322, and 327, and ground water
sites AP-3 and AP-4 at the Loadout, have been dropped from monitoring. Monitoring
of the ground water wells in the Sudduth Coal Seam (79-61) and the overburden (79-
1, 79-2, and 79-3) is not required until the last two years preceding final bond release
(2005 and 2006 water years).
Sampling during the 2006 water year was completed in accordance with the permit requirements
according to the general schedule as listed below. All field data and sample collection for the
water year was conducted under the direction of James Mossman of Kerr. All sample analyses
were performed by ACZ Laboratories, Inc. of Steamboat Springs, Colorado.
Alluvial/Spoil Groundwater -Quarterly Monitoring (except winter) - AO-2A, SP-01, AP-1
and AP-2 (3 events completed)
Bedrock Groundwater -Semi-annual Monitoring - 79-1, 79-2, 79-3, and 79-61 (2 events
completed)
Surtace water -Monitored weekly from March through June, then monthly through
September.
This report discusses the groundwater and surface water monitoring activities and summarizes
the data collected during the 2006 water year in the following sections:
• Section 3.0 -Mine An=a Groundwater (Water Table)
• Section 4.0 -Mine Area Alluvial Groundwater
• Section 5.0 -Loadout Area Alluvial Groundwater
• Section 6.0 -Mine Area Surface Water
• Section 7.0 -Loadout Area Surface Water
• Section 8.0 -Well Inspection
• Section 9.0 -Future Monitoring
Field and laboratory data are incuded in Appendices A through D. Locations of the monitoring
stations and wells are shown on Map 1, Mine Area Monitoring Stations, and Map 2, Loadout Area
Monitoring Stations.
File: 6371/2006/2006 hydrology tpt Page 2
